President Trump in Blackburn Ad: Schumer Recruited Bredesen

Donald Trump, Marsha Blackburn

The Senate campaign for U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-07) launched its fourth television ad Friday, featuring President Donald Trump’s support.

The ad will air in media markets across the state and on digital platforms statewide.

Blackburn is running against Democratic former Governor Phil Bredesen for the seat being vacated by Republican U.S. Senator Bob Corker.

In the ad, the president says, “Phil Bredesen was recruited by Schumer to run for the Senate. Bredesen donated a lot of money to Hillary Clinton. Crooked Hillary. Phil Bredesen supported her, and he supported her ideas. Phil, whatever the h—- his name is, this guy will 100 percent vote against us every single time.”

Speaking about the ad, campaign Chairman Kevin Golden said, “President Trump knows Tennesseans need a senator who will represent them first. Phil Bredesen is Chuck Schumer’s number one recruit and donated over $33,400 to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. What we hear from Tennesseans is they fear Phil Bredesen will not represent their values in Washington.”

Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden said in a statement that the president’s remarks show that Bredesen is the wrong choice to represent Tennesseans.

“Donald Trump won Tennessee with over 60 percent of the vote and the largest margin of victory in four decades,” Scott Golden said. “President Trump recognizes that Phil Bredesen is wrong for Tennessee. Phony Phil Bredesen likes to pretend that he’ll work with Trump, but his liberal Democratic party leaders have made it clear that their main objective is to oppose the president at every turn. The plain fact is that Phil’s first vote would be to elect Chuck Schumer as majority leader, effectively halting the president’s agenda in its tracks.

“Tennesseans want a senator who will work with the president to grow our economy, secure our border, and fund our men and women in uniform. It’s clear Marsha Blackburn is the best choice to be that senator.”

I like Marsha and will vote for her. Good to see a decent commercial because the Trafficking and Opiod ads only targeted a tiny segment of TN and were largely irrelevant to what matters to regular Tennesseans- Illegal Immigration, Obamacare. Jobs, Training and Retraining for those Americans who left the workforce because they gave up

I have a theory (maybe I am wrong, but I don’t think so). A CHARGE UNANSWERED (AND NOT DONE SO IMMEDIATELY) BY A CANDIDATE IS A CHARGE CONCEDED concerning a political attack ad allegation. If Marsha does not have someone on her campaign team ‘tasked’ with the responsibility of ‘following’ Bredesen’s attack ads against her, I think that she needs to appoint such a person immediately so that she/her campaign can quickly and timely respond to Bredesen’s attack ad charges and falsehoods.

I think that Bredesen’s political ads are ‘very good’ ads—I am not saying that I like them, I am just saying that I think that they are effective and are doing what they are intended to do.

(I think that this senatorial election will be close. I don’t think that there is much margin for error in this election. If you will remember, in the 2006 election Corker only beat Ford by about 50,000 votes out of not quite 1,850,000 votes cast. I don’t think that much has changed in Tennessee in this regard except that the State is now more populous.)

When Bredesen ‘airs’ a dishonest attack ad, the ad ought to be IMMEDIATELY responded to, and the response ought to say (among other things) HOW the Bredesen ad is dishonest.

The political operatives working for Bredesen are shrewd and experienced ‘old foxes’ who will ‘eat you alive’ if you are not ‘on your game.’ And once the damage is done, I think that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to undo the damage.

Just sayin’. I hope that the Blackburn campaign finds this comment helpful.
